The professional racing season is here which makes it hard to do anything but sit on the couch and watch the best racers in the World battle. With so much couch time in our futures what better time than now to share some amazing food ideas. All of these are super easy, are pretty quick, mess free and won’t require you to take your eyes off the screen. Mini Slides
Mini Sandwiches
There is no way to do this wrong. Get a package of Hawaiian Mini rolls, don’t separate them, take a knife and cut them in half. Set the tops to the side. Crab any baking dish or cookie sheet, spray with Pam, place the bottoms on the baking dish, load up with your favorite meats, cheeses or anything else. Don’t do veggies yet, don’t do condiments or anything that will turn (like egg salad) when baking. Place the top of the rolls on, spray the tops with Pam and bake for about 15 minutes at 350. Take them out, let sit and cool for a few minutes and then remove the top of the bread and add your veggies, condiments and anything else that you want, replace the top bread. Remove from baking dish, place on cutting board and cut the lines in the bread. BAM, perfect sandwiches that will last hours.
Fruit Kabobs
Grab some kabob sticks and your favorite fruits. Warning: Citrus fruits don’t work well, you need a firm fruit. Watermelon (any melon, Banana, Kiwi, Apple, Strawberry, Raspberry, Blueberry, Grape, etc. Slice up the larger fruit, small things like grapes and little berries can be used whole. Slide them onto the kabob sticks. Better than high sugar snacks and healthy. Party Mix – A little of this and a lot of that
Snack Mix
Really you do what you want here, grab a big bowl and start adding goodies, it is pretty hard to mix a bad combination but here are some guidelines. Sweet and salty work together but within reason. Don’t add a salty item with a bold flavor like Funyuns to a mix with M&Ms. Don’t mix different types of candy like Skittles with Rolos.
Now the secret to chicken strips is the dips. Like the party mix you have to do something really wrong to mess this up. Start with a base, we suggest sour cream. Now start adding spices and stuff to it; garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, bacon bits, green onion, BBQ sauce, etc., etc., etc. Mix well and let sit in the fridge for 30 minutes. You let it sit so that the flavors can spread throughout. Also great for dipping veggies, chips, pretzels, etc.
