There are loads of super realistic racing sims out there and then there are the “racing” games that market themselves as sims but when was the last time a GT3 race car had nitrous? Or was doing 100 yard long jumps over other cars? Or raced on a track that is half dirt? Oh, yea, never. What there hasn’t been, until now is a racing game for those of us that are serious about racing but want to take a break from the serious and just have fun, that game is Circuit Superstars.
For those of you over the age of about 35 you might remember an arcade game called Sega Hot Rod, a top ¾ angle down racer, as a kid I spent every free quarter on that game, Circuit Superstars is just like it; casual, fun, great racing and lots of oversteer but that’s where the similarities stop. With Circuit Superstars there are various classes of cars (and trucks), you can race a FWDhatch, a Lotus Super 7, three generations of F1 cars, rally, stock cars, Euro trucks and three types of GT and prototypes. There are pit stops, pit strategy, driver and car customization, a ton of tracks including the Top Gear test track, Dunsfold Aerodrome.
No, it’s not sim racing, it doesn’t try to be but for $20 you can’t beat it. Available on PC, PS4 and Xbox. Go get it!
